Understanding LLMs

I’ve created somewhat of an introduction to large language models (LLMs) such as GPT in a way that should be genuinely helpful and insightful to anyone that reads it. This covers AI basics, how and why they work, and some early common pitfalls.

Insights and Perspectives in Contemporary AI

A deeper, more technical, and more philosophical dive into contemporary artificial intelligence, mainly LLMs. This assumes you’ve read the previous section, ‘Understanding AI and LLMs’. This covers some of my theories of effective use, some more advanced/complicated pitfalls, some personal philosophy, and some of the more interesting debates and issues being discussed.

How to Get A Job in Cybersecurity

At one point at uni I put together a presentation titled 'How to Get a Job in Cybersecurity' for my university's cybersecurity club. I since received a few requests for the slides, and hence I decided I might as well just put it on my website.

Pager Transmissions

I can easily receive POCSAG512, POCSAG1200 and POCSAG2400 (pager) transmissions, decode them and display them in real time as they are received, if I go out of my way to set up the antenna and a linux VM. I was visited by two detective sergeants about this, which was both enlightening and interesting. I was 20 at the time, and I don’t think they were expecting me to be jovial with them and to float my resume.

Weather Satellites

Using antennae I built myself, I can track, listen to and pull data from NOAA weather satellites as they fly over my general area.

My Telescope

I've always had an interest in amateur astronomy, and when I get the time and drive to set up the telescope and go sky searching, I do. Here are a few fruits of my labour.

POCSAG Paper

This is a paper I wrote for my Network Security and Resilience class about how and why using pagers to send PII is still a problem. I received a mark of 84%, which was the highest out of all students in the class for that semester.

Tesla Coils and High Voltage

Sometime halfway through 2017 I got an urge to build a fully functional tesla coil, which lead to a whole slew of electrical physics shenanigans. Right now, some of the plans on the back burner are a large SSDR tesla coil, and a functional fusor chamber.
